GBHS musicians achieve high ratings at regional

Regional Music Festival was held Saturday, April 6, at Barton Community College.

Ensembles receiving I’s were: Brass Octet (Alex Smith, Lorena Favela, Dylan Lamb, Matt Phillips, Dalton Dicks, Lane Milholland, Daniel Abbott, Malachi Williams) and the Saxophone Quartet (Robby Brining, Carlos Jacobo, Sage Cauley, Dustin Emig, and Allen To, accompanist).

Soloists receiving I’s were: McKenna Esfeld, flute; Lane Milholland, tuba; Matthew Phillips, trombone; Allen To and Sidney Cooper, marimba; and Katherine Snapp, Audrey Muth and Hayden Honomichl, voice.

II’s were awarded to Gabriella Reyes, clarinet; Lorena Favela, trumpet; Dalton Dicks and Sienna Cauley, trombone; and Amy To, marimba; Thain Bowman, Andrew Falck, Brianda Rodriguez, Raven Ellis, Eduardo Prado, Nolan Barton, Grace Dougherty, Kennedy Kern, and Alexana Cruz, strings. 

Marlene Regehr was accompanist for the band soloists; Band directors are Mark DeWald and Don Regehr. Susan Tammen was accompanist for the orchestra soloists; Isaac Enochs and Jennifer Demaree are orchestra instructors. Vocal soloists are students of Glenna Gaunt and she was their accompanist.

State Music Festival will be held on April 27 at Emporia High School.

With groundwork going on at the future site of the Innovation Center on Farmer’s Plaza off of 10th St., Great Bend Economic Development Executive Director Sara Arnberger updated Great Bend Chamber members on several of the organization’s projects Thursday during a Chamber Coffee.
