EMPORIA — Twenty-one Great Bend High School musicians competed at the 5A State Music Festival at Emporia High School on April 28.
Those receiving I’s were Allen To, marimba; Robbie Brining, alto saxophone; Dalton Dicks, trombone; Ethan Wedel, Katherine Snapp, voice; and Addie Ehrlich, Aracely Hutchinson, violin. II ratings were awarded to McKenna Esfeld, flute; Makenna Straub, Eduardo Prado, violin; Nolan Barton, cello; Audrey Muth, Karson Higgins, voice; Bayle Sandy, viola; Saxophone Quartet (Robbie Brining, Johan Sanchez, Sage Cauley, Dalton Lamb), and Sophomore Brass Quartet (Alex Smith, Daniel Abbott, Dalton Dicks, Lane Milholland). Grace Dougherty got a III on her viola solo.
Everyone who competed at State had to have a I rating from their respective Regional Music Festival.
The Band Spring Concert is Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in the GBHS gym; the Orchestra Concert is also May 14 at 6 p.m. in the GBHS auditorium. The public is invited to attend these free performances.
