Great Bend USD 428 invites parents and guardians to attend the annual Preschool and Kindergarten Pre-Enrollment Fair scheduled from 1 to 6:30 p.m. for Wednesday, April 10, at the Great Bend Events Center, 3111 10th St.

“Learning begins long before a child enters kindergarten,” emphasized JoAnn Blevins, Director of Teaching & Learning for USD 428. “Our enrollment fair on April 10 is a perfect opportunity for parents and families to discover more about USD 428 Preschool and Kindergarten programs and connect with community resources that cater to young learners.”

At this come-and-go event, USD 428 teachers and support staff will be readily available to engage with parents, offering insights into academic programs and more. Preschool programs in Great Bend cater to both 3 and 4-year-olds, while Kindergarten is open for students turning 5 years old on or before August 31, 2024.

“For the 2024-2025 school year, the capacity for Little Panthers Preschool will increase significantly at our new location,” shared Blevins. “Moving to 1805 24th St., the expansion will bring all USD 428 preschool programs under one roof, providing 15 classrooms and the ability to serve up to 288 students ages 3 and 4-year-olds.”

In addition to school staff, the event will include exhibitors from community preschools, Great Bend Public Library, Kansas Wetlands Education Center, Parents as Teachers, Great Bend Rec, and various organizations committed to supporting the development of young learners and their families.

“Preschool establishes a strong foundation for learning,” remarked Blevins, “and we want to make it as easy as possible for families to access the resources and information in one location. Parents, students, community, and schools – we’re all partners in helping our young people grow, learn, and succeed.”
