Great Bend City Council meeting being moved
But, budget hearing will take place at City Hall first
GB city office web

It will be a little awkward when the Great Bend City Council meets Monday night as the meeting will be split between two locations.

The scheduled budget hearing will be held at 7 p.m. at the City Council chambers, 1209 Williams. But, the location of the council’s regular meeting has been moved to the Great Bend Events Center, 3111, 10th Street, Great Bend, Kansas. The regular meeting will start at 7:30 p.m.

City officials said they know this is inconvenient with this being at two locations, but state statutes must be followed. According to County Clerk Donna Zimmerman, since the budget hearing was originally publicly posted to be held at City Hall it had to be held there.

Officials said otherwise, they would have had to file for an extension and did not want to have to do that.

The venue of the regular meeting was changed to accommodate an expected large crowd interested in the controversy regarding suspended Police Chief Cliff Couch and the city.
