GBHS attends Regional Music Festival

April 14 was a cold, blustery day, but the Regional Music Festival results were hot for Great Bend High School students. The festival was held at Barton Community College.
Band members receiving I’s were: Sophomore Brass Quartet (Alex Smith, Daniel Abbott, Dalton Dicks, Lane Milholland), the Saxophone Quartet (Robbie Brining, Johan Sanchez, Sage Cauley, Dalton Lamb), and soloists: Allen To, marimba; McKenna Esfeld, flute; Robbie Brining, alto sax; and Dalton Dicks, trombone.
II’s were are awarded to Chloe Gibson, oboe; Lane Milholland, tuba; and Daniela Astrain, clarinet. The freshman clarinet trio (Mollie Phillips, Emma Mayhill, Jordyn Stukey) received a II.
Marlene Regehr accompanied soloists on the piano; Mark DeWald and Don Regehr are the instrumental teachers.
Orchestra soloists receiving I’s were: Addie Ehrlich, Cely Hutchinson, Bayle Sandy, Eduardo Prado, Grace Dougherty, Makenna Straub and Noland Barton.
Soloists with II’s were: Ema Millard, and Thain Bowman. The String Ensemble (Addie Ehrlich, Paige Morgan, Ema Millard, Aden Merten, Malachi Smith, Andrew Falck, Thain Bowman) received a II, and the String Quartet (Alex Arnold, AJ Roberts, Grace Dougherty, Nolan Barton) got a III.
Isaac Enochs and Jennifer Demaree are the string instructors, and Abby Hammeke was piano accompanist.
Vocal soloists receiving I’s were: Audrey Muth, Katherine Snapp, Ethan Wedel, Karson Higgins.
Jesseca Hames received a II.
They are private students of Glenna Gaunt.
Those receiving I’s will compete in the State Music Festival in Emporia on April 28.
