The Barton County Sheriff’s Office along with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks will host a hunter safety class Sept. 6 and 7 at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center, 592 NE K-156.
Any person born after July 1, 1957, is required to obtain a Hunter Safety Certificate before they can receive a hunting license in the state of Kansas.
The class will meet from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, with a one hour lunch break. Students should bring a sack lunch. The class will continue from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7. Students must be present for both classes to receive their certificates.
Participants must be at least 12 years old to attend the class. This class is free to public, but class size is limited to 40 students.
