A dusting of snow clung to the road west of Great Bend Monday morning as January weather returned to the area for a few days. On paved roads, a thin sheen of ice kept drivers on the edges of their seats until mid-morning, and hats and gloves were popular accessories with temperatures hovering in the single-digits. Freezing cold returns today with expected highs of 15 degrees with windchill values as low as -18. Relief is in sight, thankfully, later in the week, with highs reaching into the 50s by Friday.
