Jumpin' June Jaunt
Celebration continues Sunday on K-96

Wacky Chad had just dismounted from a pogo stick after completing a “360 degree whip and tuck reverse rewind.”
“You should be clapping right now,” the stunt comedian told the audience assembled on the south side of Jack Kilby Square. “Taylor Swift can’t do that.”
A last-minute replacement for Pogo Fred, Wacky Chad was one of the June Jaunt entertainers Saturday. His act, which was good enough to land him a spot on “America’s Got Talent,” featured award winning pogo stick tricks, 5.5 and 9-foot tall unicycles, “dangerous” juggling, skateboard tricks and plenty of audience participation.” Ten-year-old Caden Marley rode on Wacky Chad’s shoulders as the performer rode a tiny bicycle.

Meanwhile, the Great Bend Renaissance Faire was taking place on the north side of the courthouse. Alice and Lazaro Montes from Hays rested in a shady spot near the Blackthorne Creations tent.
Mrs. Montes said they heard about June Jaunt and decided to spend Saturday in Great Bend.
“It’s really nice,” she said. They planned to find a place for dinner and see some other local attractions, such as the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo.
Vender Twila Henderson, with her parents Scott and Susan Ingram, traveled from Alma, Arkansas, to set up their Blackthorne Creations tent offering nuts, fudge, soaps and essential oils.
“I’ve been doing Renaissance festivals for over 20 years,” Henderson said. She occasionally attends horse shows or other events, but especially enjoys making costumes and participating in the anachronistic festivals. “The Renaissance community is one big happy family,” she said.

The Renaissance Faire will continue Sunday on the north side of the Barton County Courthouse. Admission is free for this K-96 June Jaunt event.
