Allen To, Great Bend High School sophomore, was the first Kansas Music Educators Association State Honor Band recipient to hold the new plaque remembering those students who have been selected for this prestigious group.

Band Director Mark DeWald researched players from GBHS who have won this award and found the following: 2001, Nathan Koch, Concert Band, bassoon; 2002 & 2003 - Nathan Koch, Concert Orchestra, bassoon; 2003 - Kari Brooks, Concert Band, trumpet; 2003, 2004, 2005 - Kelli Brooks, Concert Band, clarinet; 2004 - Brent Pinkall, Concert Band, tenor saxophone; 2006 - Brent Pinkall, Jazz Band, tenor saxophone; 2006 - Justin Moyers, Concert Band, trumpet; 2006 - Immanuel Scott, Concert Band, trombone; 2010 - Reagan Reynolds, Concert Band, clarinet; 2012 - Addison Baxter, Concert Orchestra, percussion; 2016 & 2017 - Ben Diel, Concert Band, trumpet; and 2017 - Allison Regehr, Concert Band, horn.
