The Great Bend Recreation Commission will host “Water Conservation Rain Barrel” from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St. This is a free Stop ‘N’ Learn session.  Landscapes, on average, account for nearly 40 percent of a household’s water usage during the summer months. Rain barrels can help alleviate some of the pressure on water resources by collecting rain water to be used for watering purposes.
Participants can learn the benefits of rain barrels and how you can make one. Alicia Boor, Barton County agriculture and natural resource agent, will be the presenter.
