Chad Ehrlich knows cars like nobody’s business. Many will know him from Nobody’s Auto Recycling north of Great Bend on US-281, and Nobody's Show on youtube, but since partnering with the Froetschner’s of Carr Auction in 2016, F&E Collector Auto Auctions has established itself as a premier regional auto auction. With more than 600 vehicles sold overs its history F&E offers on-site and online bidding.
“The auction features classic collector cars but we have a bit of everything,” Ehrlich said. “Classics, muscle cars, antique barn finds, hot rods, motorcycles, and memorabilia, you name it. There’s always something for everyone.”
“These events have really grown in popularity. It’s real world drama and it’s exciting seeing the cars roll through the auction block.”
“We ship and sell vehicles all over, nationwide and worldwide. The Czech Republic, Indonesia, Canada, it’s amazing where we have buyers from.”
Things kick off at Friday evening’s preview and a raffle and donations benefit the SRCA Dragstrip. A live radio broadcast, food, a beer garden, and social hour with free prize drawings and raffle prizes lets visitors check things out before bidding starts on Saturday.
“Friday night kicks everything off with a raffle and preview. Come out, walk around and check things out.” Ehrlich continued.
The auction starts Saturday morning. Memorabilia kicks off the auction followed by vehicles with raffles breaks scheduled in-between and finishing off the event is a major raffle of a 5-foot neon sign - must be present to win. Ehrlich said each year is different but F&E averages around 80 vehicles with about 500 guests in attendance throughout the day on Saturday.
“Attendance on Saturday is $5 but its a great time to spend with some buddies or the family checking out unique cars, enjoying the beer garden and some good food. We’ll have a raffle about every tenth vehicle to give everybody a break and at the end of the day we have a huge neon sign we’re raffling off but you have to be present to win it.”
“Carr has some great people that know what they’re doing moving items through the block. It’s a great partnership.”
Still accepting consignments, Chad recommends those looking to offer items for sale get them in early to take advantage of F&E’s marketing. “We accept up until Friday night before the auction but they go to the back of the line and don’t get the benefit of our marketing efforts. We put out everything we can beforehand online and with Facebook and Youtube to get the attention of everybody so the earlier the better.”
