LARNED — Mona Marie Wysong, 94, passed away May 31, 2026 at her home in Larned.

She was born Nov. 5, 1931 in Lyons, the daughter of Olin R. and Irene M. Kitchen Bernstorf.

Growing up, she attended Wide Awake, a one room country school in Rural Rice County. She later graduated from Lewis High School in 1948 before taking two years at Bethany Nazarene University, Bethany, Okla. A longtime area resident she was a daycare provider, later sold American Family Insurance and was a sales clerk dept. manager at Alco in Larned. She was a member of New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene where she played the piano for many years, a previous manager at the Welcome Inn Senior Center, and member of the Wind Chimes singing group.

On Aug. 29, 1952 she married William L. ‘Bill’ Wysong at Larned Church of the Nazarene; he preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1996.

Survivors include, son, Robert L. (Janet) Wysong, Larned; brother, Larry (Juana) Bernstorf, Derby; five grandchildren, Sheena Shala Wysong, Salina, Rachel (Colby) Hill, Larned, Sonya (Brian Medina) Wysong, Salina, Michael (AnnaBeth Crittenden) Wysong, New York, New York, and Mark (Lindsay) Wysong Jr., Larned; seven great grandchildren, Hunter, Jaionna, Leyum, Brylee, Ariya, Mavis, and Eloise. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Mark A. Wysong Sr.; sister, LaVeda I. Cross.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Jarred Smith and Pastor Bo Rouse presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.
