STAFFORD — Stafford Economic Development arranged for Help Me Grow Kansas represented by Miss Ali to come to our library. We were busy throughout the day with parents rating their children on a computer program and their children having a great time playing with all our toys. Sandy was in seventh heaven keeping kids entertained.
The families were given a backpack full of information, toys and books for each child. Help Me Grow Kansas also gave the library books, toys and a play mat. It was a fun and educational day for families.
Thursday, April 16, Stafford Economic Development is giving an informational meeting at the library at 5:30 p.m. This meeting is to provide daycare workers and subs information on getting into this career path. Come join us and see if it is something you would enjoy as a career.
It is exciting watching our grass grow! No, seriously! It has greened up overnight and the bare spaces are filling in. The lovely plants in the landscaping are beginning to wake-up and soon we will have our front yard picture perfect. Mike Cargill has been doing a wonderful job caring for the library inside and out.
Our next step is developing the backyard into a nice reading area. This project began with a memorial from the Audrey Hedrick family. Tammy thought her mother would have enjoyed an outside reading spot to enjoy her favorite pastimes of reading and mother nature. Mary Jo Taylor, Amanda Sandoval, and Dalton Hernandez volunteered to be on a committee to make plans for the reading spot in our backyard. Trees will be planted, a decorative fence installed (to hide ugly utilities), and colorful barn quilt panels will be painted by area children to attach to the fence. If you are excited about this project and would like to help in any way let us know at the library. Watch for progress and then come enjoy Audrey’s Reading Spot.
Trish Green from K-State Extension would like to set up an informational meeting in May for people who have children in 4-H, that will be entering projects in the Stafford County Fair this year. Trish is wanting to help 4-H families select projects and help develop a plan to have a worry-free, educational and successful entry. What a great way to help 4-H families! We are thinking of early May to allow time for project development. Watch for further details and plan on coming to this event that will make your Stafford County Fair time less stressful.
