Larned volleyball will play at CKL


HILLSBORO — Larned and Hoisington will start the 2013 high school volleyball season Saturday at the Central Kansas League Volleyball Tournament. Teams will start with two pool-play matches.
Second-seeded Hoisington will play Haven at 9 a.m. and Kingman at 11 a.m.
Ninth-seeded Larned will play Smoky Valley at 10 a.m. and Hesston at 11 a.m.
Larned and Hoisington will become full-fledged members of the Central Kansas League in 2014. But the CKL invited the teams to compete in the “preseason” volleyball tournament.
Bracket play and consolation round-robin play will start at 12:30 p.m. Teams will play five matches. Hillsboro defeated Hesston in last year’s championship match.

Friday — LHS volleyball scrimmage, LMS, 5 p.m.; LHS football scrimmage, 7 p.m.
Saturday — LHS volleyball, Central Kansas League, Hillsboro High School

Scrimmage set

LARNED —  The annual Black/Orange football scrimmage featuring players from the combined Larned High School/Pawnee Heights football team is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday at Earl Roberts Field Stadium.
Admission is a donation of a case of water or Gatorade. Every level of football will be showcased, beginning with the third-fourth grade team at 5 p.m. followed by Larned Middle School and Larned High School.
