Teacher Apprecation
scheduled Monday

LARNED — A Teacher Appreciation welcome coffee for the 2014-2015 is scheduled from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Larned Middle School Gym. The Teacher Appreciation Coffee will honors Fort Larned USD 495 teachers, staff and administrators.
The coffee is co-sponsored by the Ministerial Association of Pawnee County and the Larned Chamber of Commerce.
Rev. Bethann Black, MAPC president and pastor, First United Methodist Church, will offer prayer.
Fort Larned Superintendent Jon Flint will speak. Building administrators will introduce their new teachers and staff.
Coffee, juice and cinnamon rolls will be served in the school Commons. The public is invited to attend and meet the teachers and staff.

Infection control speaker
will be featured Monday

LARNED — Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Foundation  will be hosting “Ask The Expert” during Coffee Chat on Monday,  August 11, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital.  
Mark Colglazier, PVCH Infection Control, will be the featured speaker.  Colglazier will talk about Infectious Diseases – how to prevent and protect yourself from them, Infectious Diseases in the News and what it means to you, and being proactive in the upcoming cold and flu season – how can you be protect your own health and the health of your loved ones.
Coffee Chat is held every Monday and is an opportunity for community members to gather together over free coffee and treats while sharing great fellowship and conversation.  
The public is invited to attend.

Free event will help
mother’s enjoyment

LARNED —  The Pawnee County Health Department will sponsor a free event designed for women of all ages. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16th at the J.A. Haas Building, 400 E. 18th in Larned.
There will be special booths for pregnant women, women who are breastfeeding and women with young children ages birth to 5 years. There will be a mixture of educational, home décor, gifts, clothing, candles, jewelry and crafts. Infants and children are welcome.  
There will be many drawings including the Grand Prize: a rocker/recliner from Tabler Furniture valued at more than $500.

Larned city council
will meet Monday

LARNED — The Larned city council will meet in a special session at 6:30 p.m. Monday at city hall.
The council will conduct a public hearing on the 2015 proposed budget and review the Kansas Resource Housing Corporation Project.
