Quilting Bees meet

LARNED — In the absence of the president, Virginia Bauer chaired the May 15 meeting.  
Announcements included a workday at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19.
The Wichita Quilt Show at Century II is scheduled June 21, 22, 23. The group received thank you notes from Richard and Kim Bennett and Glenn and Donita Taylor.  Susan Gray won the frog fat quarters.  The June fat quarter drawing will be of bugs.
The Opportunity Quilt is available for showing and drawing stubs are available from any member of the guild or by calling the church.
Discussion and assignments for the Quilter’s Celebration was held.  The free event will be on Saturday, June 2 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall,  8th and Morris, Larned.  
The program lists demonstrations in the morning with a presentation of quilting history and trunk show in the afternoon.  A potluck lunch, Peddler’s Corner and a free table of items and refreshments complete the festivities.  For further information contact Ann Hicks at (620) 285.6033.  The public is invited.
Show and Tell participants were  Diann Morell, Opportunity Quilt in navy blue, brick and tan; Opal Macy, two blocks with too much extra fabric wasted (directions need revision); Coleen Wolf, two table runners, one in purple and one in coffee fabric; Alice Clapsaddle, “Alice in Wonderland” quilt and a Christmas table runner.
The next regular meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 5 at the First Presbyterian Church. Anyone interested in quilting on any level is welcome.
