Larned 495 enrollment dates

LARNED — Larned USD 495 enrollment needs to be finalized Monday and Tuesday at Larned Middle School, 904 Corse. If you have multiple students to enroll, you may enroll them at the same time.
Monday, Aug. 8 — Noon to 8 p.m. — all preschool students through eighth grade; high school seniors.
High school juniors — 4 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 9 — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — all preschool students through eighth grade.
High school sophomores — 8 to 11 a.m.
High school freshmen — Noon to 3 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 10 — Enrollment at each individual building.
Friday, Aug. 12 — Larned High School will be available for schedule changes at LHS from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and also during the first week of school.
Online enrollment started Aug. 1 for returning USD 495 students. A parent/guardian needs the ID/password that was mailed out with report cards in the spring. If a parent/guardian doesn’t have it, call the child’s school and it can be picked up.

USD 495 will review budget

LARNED — The Larned USD 495 school board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the district office to approve the 2011-2012 budget.
Reports will be heard from building principals and directors of transportation, maintenance, technology and Superintendent Jon Flint.
Personnel will review hirings, separations and transfers.
The board will designate a treasurer, KPERS representative and treasurer of activity and will review a nursing contract, recreation commission appointment, sale of used equipment and Apple quote.

LARNED — The Santa Fe Trail Center, Larned, invites the public to view a temporary exhibit commemorating the generation who fought in World War II.
The exhibit features artifacts and photographs related to the armed forces and the home front from 1940-1945.  Items from the museum’s collections highlighting local servicemen and women will be on display. The U.S. Congress has designated Aug. 14 as National Spirit of ’45 Day. The American Association of State and Local History has encouraged museums across the country to participate in honoring the Spirit of ’45.
The Santa Fe Trail Center, 1349 K-156, is two miles west of Larned. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. For information, call 620-285-2054 or visit the website www.santafetrailcenter.org.
