Pet clinic scheduled
ROZEL — The city of Rozel and Larned Veterinary Clinic will sponsor a pet clinic at the Rozel Fire Department from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. All dogs and cats must be vaccinated and have a current city tag. For information, call 620-527-4399, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Quilting Bees meet
LARNED — Members and guest Pastor Katheryn Bates of the Presbyterian Church met on Tuesday, May 7 in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church.
President Colleen Wolf welcomed new member Carol Crockett of Larned. Membership lists were distributed and compiled by Alice Clapsaddle and Wolf’s daughter Tammy. Six prayer quilts have been completed in the first seven days of May. A thank you note was read from Alex and Twila Herrman for the gift of a prayer quilt.
Thanks goes to Alice Clapsaddle for the donation of two packages of batting. Colleen Wolf won the wind and rain fat quarters and the May fat quarter on flowers will be drawn at the next meeting on May 21. Merlene Baird will hold a demonstration on the “Four Block Wonder” at the meeting.
The annual Quilter’s Celebration will be held on June 22 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Presentations will be the “One Block Wonder” by Diann Morell of Larned, “Embroidery and Handwork on Quilts” by Marilyn Eberhardt of Hutchinson, and “How to Prepare Your Quilt for the Professional Quilter” by Gina Janes of Hannibal, Missouri. Door prizes, free quilting magazines, a Peddler’s Corner, snacks, a potluck lunch, and a drawing for an Opportunity Quilt will be offered at this free event which is open to the public.
Show and Tell participants were Merlene Baird, “Picture” quilt and a brown/gold/beige quilt; Alice Clapsaddle, “One Block Wonder” block in greens and cream and a quilted wall hanging with sunflowers and pumpkins; Mary Weber, “Dog” quilt top and “1/2 ten inch block” quilt top; Melvina Prescott, “Braid in a Day” scrappy quilt top in blue and pink; Colleen Wolf, newly acquired fabric.
Members completed the evening by tying prayer quilts.
