LARNED — Thirteen Quilting Bees members met on Feb. 2 in the quilting room at the First Presbyterian Church, 8th and Morris.
A thank you note was read from Mary Weber for the gifts that members gave in memory of Phil Weber.
The following slate of officers was elected for 2015 — Colleen Wolf, president; Diann Morell, treasurer; Ann Hicks and Mary Weber, program chairs; and Alice Clapsaddle, publicity.
The blue fat quarter drawing was won by Alice Clapsaddle and the fat quarter drawings will begin again in July. A signup sheet for programs and demonstrations for the coming year was distributed. Discussion was held concerning the Quilting Celebration to be held in June, date, time and place to be announced.
The next regular meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. Feb. 17. A workday for members on Saturday, Feb. 28, the first of two workdays on a mystery quilt, will be presented by Diann Schultz of Great Bend.
Show and Tell participants were Virginia Bauer, two spring table toppers for the church parlor and the March block of the month; Mary Weber, a mini demonstration on a scrappy Kansas Trouble mystery project; Susan Southam, Disappearing Nine Patch block, table runner made from scraps, Disappearing 4-patch quilt, the reverse of Jacob Ladder; Opal Macy, a growing number of Dresden Plate blocks; new member Gayle Fanshier, November Maple Leaf block; Alice Clapsaddle, Junior Masterfrogger prayer quilt top for a long time family friend; March block, 25 nine inch strip blocks from scraps, and small scrappy yellow and sunflower table runner; Becky Schultz, fabric for the mystery quilt for the workday; and Colleen Wolf, March block, “Frozen” minky and cotton throw for her 5-year-old granddaughter.
