ELLINWOOD — The Ellinwood Rotary Club announces the 2013 theme for the After Harvest Festival Parade to be held at 10 a.m. July 2. This year’s theme is “Home Is Where Our Story Begins.” They are hoping registrants for the parade will incorporate this year’s theme into their parade float.
The AHF parade has been rolling down Main Street in Ellinwood for the past consecutive 40 years. Ellinwood Rotary started selecting a theme for the parade in 1991 to help celebrate or recognize special events or personalities and help create a focal point for the entire After Harvest Festival. “Home Is Where Our Story Begins” reflects the thousands of individuals who come back “home” to celebrate with family and friends and reminisce the days they lived in Ellinwood and the great times had by all.
Awards will be given in the following categories: All-Around, Antique Tractor, Antique/Classic Vehicle, Commercial, Most Original, Religious Float, Youth Entry, Reunions, and Theme.
Entries to the parade can be obtained online at www.ellinwoodchamber.com. For further information please email joiner@fmi-ks.com or call 620-792-9553.
This year’s theme is from Sarah (Jackson) McMillan. McMillan is a graduate from the Class of 1998 who will be having a 15 year reunion during the AHF.
