ELLINWOOD — The registration line began growing early at the Ellinwood Municipal Swimming Pool Thursday, in anticipation of After Harvest Festival’s first event.

The Ellinwood Library’s themed art display was open all day, but Pool Olympics was the first activity Thursday morning, beginning with a torch-lighting ceremony and parade of youthful participants around the pool’s rim.

Younger contestants competed in the pool’s shallow end, testing their ability to do their best handstand; older entrants competed in at the deep end for the biggest splash and in the mid-section, teams competed in a game of gutterball.

Thursday evening at the Wolf Park bandshell, residents gathered for the community BBQ and homemade ice cream. Along with kids’ activities downtown, there was Cruise Night on the Bricks, a car show and live music.

Friday’s events began with a community breakfast, and the evening brought more activities and music on Main Street.
