PRATT — Ulysses downed Larned’s girls 49-38 in the third-place game at the Pratt Tournament.
Larned’s Ally Aldrich and Kelsey Parr were both selected for the Pratt All Tournament team. Parr finished in second place in the 3-point shooting contest. The Indians will travel to league-leader Kingman Tuesday for a Central Kansas League game.
The Indians struggled offensively to find ways to score against an aggressive Ulysses zone defense.  Ulysses opened in man-to-man defense, but the Tigers switched to a 2-3 zone and the Larned offense stalled, leading to a Ulysses 21-18 lead at halftime.
Forced to settle for outside shots, the Lady Indians couldn’t close the gap in the second half as Ulysses continued to grow their lead and finished  with the 11-point victory.
Freshman Gina Ballesteros keyed the offense for the Tigers, finishing with 18 points and Kali Kenny added 12 points.
Larned’s Ally Aldrich and Kelsey Parr each scored nine points. Contributing six apiece were Erin Smith, Kaitlyn Finger and Haley Skelton.

LARNED 52,
KC WASHINGTON 23
The Larned Lady Indians rebounded to rout Class 5A Kansas City Washington 52-23 in Friday’s pool play.
The Indians shot a season-best 45 percent from the field.  Haley Skelton scored 16 points. Kelsey Parr chipped in with 10 and Ally Aldrich added seven points.
Despite a slow start, the Lady Indians still held a 10-9 first-quarter lead. Larned’s strong defense forced numerous Wildcat turnovers for a 23-14 halftime lead. The Wildcats finished with 14 points in the final three periods.
An 11-4 edge in the third quarter propelled Larned into an insurmountable lead  which enabled all players from the Larned bench to get playing time in the fourth quarter.
