A Great Bend woman was injured after being struck by a pickup while walking across the street Thursday morning, the Kansas Highway Patrol is reporting.

According to the KHP, at about 10:30 a.m., a 2002 Toyota Tundra driven by James W. Juergensen, 71, Great Bend, was turning right off of Heizer onto 19th Street when his truck struck Sreehitha Kadiyala, 23, Great Bend, who was crossing 19th headed north.

Kadiyala, who is the City of Great Bend’s assistant engineer, was on the job at the time of the accident, city officials said.

Kadiyala was transported to University of Kansas Health Systems Great Bend Campus by Great Bend Emergency Medical Services. City officials said she suffered multiple fractures after being ran over and was transported to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita by ground ambulance.

Juergensen was not injured.
