Friday morning students at Great Bend High School reported to the gymnasium for the Winter Homecoming Pep Rally.  Candidates were announced and honored before making their way to their court at the west end of the basketball court.

Various skits were performed, and a “karaoke” contest was held between the faculty and each class.  Predictably, the senior class participant was chosen the winner by the level of applause generated, but had there been a runner-up, it would have gone to junior Eric Vasquez, who by far performed the longest.  Sophomore and freshmen representatives also competed with gusto, but faculty fell flat, although spirit was certainly not lacking.

One highlight, the senior boys dance, didn’t disappoint.  (See video here.)  Cheer and Danceline performances punctuated the rally, helping to build momentum.

The Panthers will meet the Buhler Crusaders on the hardwood tonight,  with the Freshman and JV Girls playing at 4 p.m. in the main gym, followed by Varsity Girls at 6 p.m.  Varsity Boys will play at 7:40 p.m.   Homecoming royalty will be announced in between the Girls and Boys Varsity games.

At the PAC, the Freshman Boys will play at 4 p.m., followed by JV Boys at 5:45 p.m.

Admission to the games is $5 for adults and $3 for students K-12.  Tonight’s theme is Neon, so attendees are asked to wear neon colors if possible to support the school with efforts to  increase its ranking in the CatchitKansas Student Section Rankings.
