Property valuation notices to be mailed

The Barton County Appraiser’s Office will mail out the 2011 Personal Property Valuation Notices on Friday. Once a property owner receives their valuation notice, it is suggested that they review the notice for accuracy of property information.
A property owner who wishes to appeal the personal property value(s) or if the valuation notice does not correctly represent what was/is owned then they will need to contact the Appraiser’s Office at 620-793-1821. The personal property appeal deadline date is Tuesday, May 31.
If the appeal deadline is missed, the next opportunity to appeal will be when the first half 2011 taxes are paid on or before Dec. 20. A taxpayer cannot appeal the notice of value and pay the taxes under protest for the same property for the same tax year.
Property owners who have not yet filed their personal property with the Appraiser’s Office are urged to do so immediately to avoid further penalties.

However, but not everyone has access to the equipment, manpower and training for a successful burn. That’s where teamwork can help.
