The First Congregational United Church of Christ is having a gourmet coney/hotdog fundraiser for Kaito Richter from 5 to 7 pm. on Aug. 31. Kaito, 2 1/2 years old, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Ewing’s sarcoma, in his leg last November.
Since this discovery Kaito has traveled to Wichita every three weeks for chemotherapy at the Medical Arts building near Wesley Medical Center. On March 17, the tumor was removed. He will continue to have chemotherapy every three weeks for the next one or two years. Along with chemo, if his blood count is low he is given blood transfusions. Kaito’s family are determined to stay positive and they appreciate the community’s support.
This fundraiser features coneys and hotdogs with a sumptuous assortment of toppings, along with homemade ice cream, cookies and cake. Carry out will be available. There will be a free will offering for the dinner. The church is located at 3400 21st Street, Great Bend, with an accessible entrance on Polk Street. For questions, call the church office 792-5346 or Mary Ann June 792-6104. To make a donation, a fund is set up for Kaito at the Great Bend Credit Union.
