STERLING — A flood warning for southwestern Rice County has been extended to 1 p.m. Saturday by the National Weather Service in Wichita.
Rice County emergency management reports several inches of water is crossing K-96 south of sterling near the Reno and Rice County line. Due to the Arkansas River running high. It is possible additional flooding could also be occurring across portions of southwest Rice County in the vicinity of the Arkansas River. with the river level expected to crest sometime Friday afternoon and then slowly recede thereafter.
Some locations that may experience flooding include Sterling, Alden and Raymond.
just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road. when encountering flooded roads make the smart choice and turn around and don’t drown.
