Great Bend High School theater/drama instructor Holly Johnson hopes the Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education will allow theater students to travel to Branson, Mo., during the 2023-2024 school year and then every two years, to experience educational value and learn about theater art as a profession. Her request is on the agenda for the next school board meeting, set for 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the District Education Center, 201 S. Patton Road.

The request is being made now because early planning will give students a year to raise funds to cover travel expenses.

Other items on Monday’s board agenda include approval of gym floor bid specifications, a ROSE Award, special education update, second reading of the GBHS Program of Studies, a rough draft of the revised mission and vision statements, first reading of policy revisions, personnel, and an executive session for the purpose of discussing the supereminent’s evaluation. According to the agenda, no action will be taken after the executive session, other than adjournment.
