Semi-trailer hits cattle in Russell County

A semi-trailer driver was injured Tuesday on Interstate 70 in Russell County. John Kenneth Arthurs II, from Independence, Mo., was taken to Russell Regional Hospital with undetermined injuries.

The Kansas Highway Patrol Online Crash Logs report Arthurs was in an International pulling two trailers. He was westbound on I-70 at 12:40 a.m., when the rig collided with nine head of cattle in the roadway near the Dorrance exit. He was able to stop on the shoulder of the highway.

The driver was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle was towed.
