RUSSELL COUNTY — Flash flooding caused several people to be trapped by swift moving water in Russell County on Sunday, Russell County Sheriff Fred Whitman reports. Emergency personnel responded to the area of Mellard Road and 182nd.
Good Samaritans were able to provide a flat bottom boat and were able to rescue everyone from the flood waters. There were no injuries, but several vehicles and some personal property were lost.
“We would like to thank everyone that brought equipment and personnel to help with this incident. We also encourage everyone not take any chances and not cross any water rushing across roads and bridges,” Whitman said.
