While questions about the return-to-school timeline remain, one thing is certain - families have more options than ever before when enrolling to attend Great Bend Public Schools this Fall.
“We want to support the health and safety of our students, staff, and community by providing our families with options for learning this Fall,” said Khris Thexton, USD 428 superintendent.
USD 428 recently published a draft Restart Plan that outlines two learning models, On-Site Learning and Remote Learning. The document, which can be found at GreatBendSchools.net/restart, also provides guiding principles for health and safety protocol and operations.
For students who are either returning or preregistered in USD 428, online enrollment is required. Parents/guardians can simply login to their “Family Access” portal on the USD 428 website to complete the 2020-2021 enrollment process. New students, or those needing assistance or access to a computer, are asked to enroll in-person at their attendance center in August.
Elementary enrollment will be held August 4 from 1-7 p.m., and on August 5 from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at all five neighborhood elementary buildings. Great Bend Middle School and Great Bend High School will host enrollment on August 4 from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and August 5 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Helping Hands Preschool will host their in-person enrollment on August 10 from 7:45 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Washington Education Center on Lakin Ave.
Beginning August 3, masks will be required for all staff, visitors, and vendors in all USD 428 facilities. Families are encouraged to bring their own cloth mask, or disposable masks will be provided.
Questions can be directed to the specific attendance centers, or to the USD 428 District Education Center at 620-793-1500. More information can also be found at www.GreatBendSchools.net.
