A St, John was arrested on a charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute following a late-night traffic stop near the city of Great Bend.
Darrin Halzle, 34, was booked into the Barton County Jail in lieu of more than $300,000 bond, Sheriff Brian Bellendir reported.
Barton County Deputy Sheriff Sierra Thorne stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of North Washington Street at 11:38 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5. According to reports, Halzle was stopped for the traffic infraction driving left of center. It was discovered he had a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in Barton County District Court.
“During the course of the investigation the deputy discovered nearly a half a pound of suspected methamphetamine with an estimated street value of nearly $8,000,” Bellendir stated in a news release. “Scales and other drug paraphernalia were also seized.
According to the BCSO Media Log of jail activity, Halzle was booked for failure to appear, in lieu of $20,000 bond; and possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and failure to maintain lane, in lieu of $300,000 bond; and on a Stafford County District Court cases for possession of meth and driving under the influence, in lieu of $10,000 bond.
