Two Quilts of Valor Awarded in La Crosse

United States Air Force veteran Raymond Hylton was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on October 30, 2019 in La Crosse. The quilt top was made by Linda Bittel, at left, and quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor, right.

United States Air Force veteran Raymond Hylton was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on October 30, 2019 in La Crosse. Raymond served from 2012-2017. After completing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, he was stationed in Spain for a year. Raymond was then stationed at McConnell Air Force base in Wichita. He worked in aircraft structural maintenance.

United States Air Force veteran Phil Likens was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on Oct. 30 in La Crosse. Likens served from 2005-2009. After completing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, he was stationed in Okinawa, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Beale Air Force Base, Yuba County, Calif. He worked in structural aircraft maintenance. Phil’s Quilt of Valor was made and quilted by his mother, Debbie Likens.
