A couple from Hampton, Va., was taken to Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita on Friday, after their motorcycle collided with a semi-trailer in Russell County.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred at 7:39 p.m. on U.S. 281, just south of Russell. The 2006 Yamaha motorcycle was driven by Richard Cooke, 65, and his passenger was Stacye Lynn Cooke, 63. Both were wearing helmets.
A Freightliner truck was northbound on U.S. 281 and Mr. Cooke was turning left from the eastbound off ramp when he collided with the trailer. The semi driver, Steven W. Snyder, 53, of Wichita, was not injured.
