Barton County Extension and the Great Bend Recreation Commission is hosting a pep rally to celebrate the half way point of the 2011 Walk KS program. The event will be held Tuesday at the northeast shelter at Brit Spaugh Park.
Karen Wilder, who has her certification with ACE Fitness, will kick things off at 12:30 p.m. with a short motivational presentation and there will be time for participants to walk before returning to work or their afternoon activities.  Wilder will repeat her presentation at 1 p.m., again with a walk following.
Ninety teams are registered for the 2011 Walk KS program. Minutes exercised and the number of fruits and vegetables eaten are reported each week to a team captain. Teams chose the goal to walk 423 miles (the distance across the state) or 1,200 miles (distance around the perimeter of the state).
In case of bad weather, Tuesdays activities will be moved indoors to the CPI annex. Healthy refreshments and door prizes will be part of the celebration. For more information please contact Donna Krug, Barton County Extension Agent.  Krug may be reached at 620-93-1910 or dkrug@ksu.edu.
