A Great Bend woman was arrested Sunday after she allegedly started a fire in her ex-husband’s home.

Crystal Caruthers, 36, was booked into the Barton County Detention Center in lieu of $40,000 bond.

The Great Bend Police Department reports officers were dispatched to 3215 24th St. around 9:01 p.m. for a burglary in progress when Anthony Shives reported someone was inside his residence. Shives said his ex-wife had broken in and started a fire.

When officers arrived, they located a broken window on the residence. Officers located Caruthers in the bedroom. She was provided medical treatment by the Great Bend Fire Department for minor lacerations to the right hand. Caruthers was then transported to the jail.
