Charles Manning of Holyrood was arrested after leading multiple Barton County law enforcement officers on a pursuit throughout the county Friday night.

According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, a BCSO sergeant attempted to stop a Honda motorcycle traveling northbound on U.S. 281 at mile marker 108, just north of Great Bend, at a high rated of speed, shortly after 10 p.m. Friday.

BCSO pursued the motorcycle, whose driver was later identified as Manning, to NW 100 Rd. The motorcycle was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The motorcycle then traveled west of the City of Hoisington at a high rate of speed, then south on NW 40 Ave.

Manning then fled into the City of Great Bend at speeds in excess of 60 miles per hour, then left Great Bend on U.S. 56 eastbound at over 100 miles per hour. He then entered the City of Ellinwood where BSCO, along with Ellinwood Police, attempted to box the motorcycle in. The motorcycle left U.S. 56, and entered a parking area where it hit a bump and laid over.

Manning then fled on foot, and was pursued by BCSO and Ellinwood Police Department officers for a short time before he was taken into custody.

Manning was transported to the Barton County Detention Center where he was booked on charges of felony flee and elude, felony obstruction and numerous traffic violations, and later released on a $5,000 bond.

The Great Bend Police Department also participated in the pursuit.
