Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir said a drug arrest Friday evening at 1306 Cherry Place, Apt. B, Great Bend, came after several weeks of investigation.

BCSO detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment complex at 7:25 p.m. Deputies forced entry into the apartment after the occupant failed to answer the door.

“The suspect and a juvenile were located inside,” Bellendir reported. The suspect was identified as Heath Urban, age 38. He was arrested at the scene for alleged distribution of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school and aggravated child endangerment. The apartment is 0.3 miles from Lincoln Elementary School.

Urban remained in jail as of Monday morning and was being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. The child was released to a family member.
