Great Bend Fire Department dispatched units at 10:39 a.m. Friday for a possible structure fire at 600 Kansas Ave. Chief Mike Napolitano said that upon arrival they found that a man was in the basement burning the insulation off copper wire. The fire was out when units arrived; however, there was still some smoke in the building.
A Great Bend Police officer investigated and identified the man who had entered the building. An LOP (lack of prosecution) criminal trespass case was taken.
