One arrested, one sought for questioning after Friday search of Great Bend residence

One man was arrested on drug charges and another is wanted for questioning after Barton County Sheriff’s officers found illegal narcotics during the execution of a search warrant at a Great Bend home Friday.

According to Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir, at around noon Friday, BCSO deputies executed a search warrant at 333 Fruit St. Officers gained entry and located the sole occupant, identified as 48-year-old Christopher Hughes of Great Bend. He was found in possession of a substantial quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Hughes was placed under arrest for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and transported to the Barton County Jail. He is currently being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

A second suspect at the residence, identified as 50-year-old Kenneth Dale Reed of Great Bend, was not at home at the time of the search warrant. Reed is wanted for outstanding warrants for parole violation stemming from a previous drug charge, as well as questioning in today’s search warrant. Reed is described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, and 226 pounds.
