Barton County Sheriff
A Chevrolet Cavalier allegedly driven by Manford Cannon was involved in an accident at 3:23 p.m. Friday at the intersection of U.S. 281 and NE 30 Road (Bissell’s Point Road). Cannon reportedly fled the scene but was found a short time later and arrested. He was booked into the Barton County Jail on charges of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and passing in a no pass zone. He was released after posting a $1,000 surety bond. Emergency Medical Technicians were also summoned to the location where he was arrested when Cannon said he’d hit his head.
A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup hit a deer in the 1300 block of NE 100 Ave. at 5:24 a.m. Saturday.

Great Bend Fire Department
Firefighters had five Emergency Medical Services calls on Friday, four Saturday and two Sunday.
They performed a carbon monoxide check at 1:10 p.m. Friday at 2204 Jefferson St. but no CO was found.
At 4:39 p.m. Saturday there was a trash fire at 1314 Morphy St. The occupant had put hot coals in a trash can.
Other fires
An outbuilding at 402 NE 100 Ave. was destroyed Sunday afternoon by a controlled burn that got out of control.

Great Bend Police
A burglary at 3219 24th St. was reported Friday. Someone entered the residence and took jewelry and cash.
An identity theft case was taken Friday after a resident reported someone using his identity to open a credit card account. On Saturday the same victim reported someone attempting to open a Target account in his name.
A vehicle driven by Cody Smith was backing southbound in the 1400 block of Harrison St. at 4:52 p.m. Friday and struck a vehicle driven by McKenna Hanks, who was eastbound on Forest Ave.
Police received a call at 3:14 a.m. Saturday that a female was yelling and trying to crawl through the drive through window at McDonald’s.
A hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked vehicle in the 3200 block of Forest Ave.
A vehicle driven by Yazmin Torres was changing lanes in the 1500 block of 10th St. at 12:17 a.m. Sunday and struck a vehicle driven by Russell Effenbeck.
Criminal damage to the residence at 5955 Birchwood Dr. was reported Sunday.
A gas skip at 1001 Main was reported at 3:50 p.m. Sunday.
