Passengers taken to Salina Regional after one-vehicle crash

ELLSWORTH COUNTY — A distracted driver’s vehicle went off K-140 Thursday morning in Ellsworth County, the Kansas Highway Patrol reports. The driver had no apparent injury but three passengers with complaints of pain were taken to the hospital with possible injuries.

The crash occurred at 9:03 a.m., half a mile east of 29th Road. The eastbound 2017 Chevrolet Silverado was driven by Neldon Fick, 68, of Ellsworth. It left the roadway while the driver was distracted and struck a barbed wire fence and post. Fick and his passengers were wearing seat belts.

Those taken to Salina Regional were Rebecca Lynn Fick, 37, and Michael K. Fick, 13, both of Joplin, Mo.; and Matthew K. Fick, 44, of Carthage, Mo.
