Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters checked a report of smoke in a house in the 2300 block of 24th St., Great Bend, Tuesday evening. It was a fan motor smoking; there was no fire.


Great Bend Police

A burglary, not in progress, was reported Tuesday at 323 Hickory St. A couple of air conditioner units and a microwave were taken.

Police were asked to assist a citizen when keys were locked in a running vehicle with kids inside at 6:07 p.m. Tuesday. Marshalls Towing & Recovery unlocked it.

A non-injury crash was reported at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday at Railroad Avenue and Washington Street. The sheriff’s office also responded.

Officers assisted the Barton County Sheriff’s Office on a traffic stop in the 1500 block of McKinley at 12:23 a.m. Wednesday, when a K-9 unit was dispatched.


Barton County Sheriff

A battery was reported at 1:05 p.m. Tuesday at 1306 Macarthur Road, Great Bend.

An injury crash was reported at 3:42 p.m. at 384 N. Washington Ave., Great Bend.

The K-9 unit was dispatched to Walmart, 3503 10th St., at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday after a traffic arrest.
