Two arrested after drugs discovered during Monday traffic stop

Two individuals were arrested on multiple drug charges when officers discovered drugs during the course of a traffic stop in Great Bend Monday afternoon.

According to the Great Bend Police Department, at approximately 3:06 p.m. Monday a GBPD detective conducted a traffic stop in the alley at 12th St. and Frey St. for an equipment violation on a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville. Christopher Whiting, 38, was identified as the driver of the vehicle and Brianna Feist, 22, as the passenger. 

During the stop, GBPD Service Dog, Menta was deployed and conducted a free air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle. After performing the sniff, Menta indicated to the presence of illegal narcotics. Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle, and suspected opiates were located inside the vehicle. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also located concealed on Feist’s person. 

Whiting and Feist were arrested and booked into the Barton County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. 

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office assisted on this case.
