LA CROSSE — Douglas Scott Haltom, 50, died Dec. 12, 2013 at his home in Rush Center.
He was born June 12. 1963, in Sterling, the son of Dwight and Pam Haltom.
He graduated from Sterling High School and farmed in the Alden community for a number of years. He was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church and participated in the Sons of the American Legion, Sterling. He married and later divorced Denise Bortzfield, He also married and later divorced Tammy Brady.
He is survived by his mother, Pam Haltom, Sterling; sons, William (Lori) Bortzfield, Hutchinson; Spencer Haltom, Manhattan; daughters, Shelby (Blake) Ochs and Brinna Haltom, Great Bend; Ashton Brady, Chase; and Kali Haltom, of the home. Other survivors include sisters, Cathy (Dan) Shanelec, Lyons; Connie (Kevin) Severe, Wichita; Valerie (Monty) Locke, Shawnee; Lori (Mark) McLeland; Ellinwood; and Jodi (Doug) Kirkland, Valley Center; and grandchildren Titus, Kyndahl and Kymber Bortzfield, Hutchinson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Haltom, and a son, Danny Bortzfield.
Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sterling United Methodist Church Tuesday with Rev. Marvin Ewertt officiating.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling. Burial will be in Alden Valley Cemetery Alden.
Memorials are suggested to his children’s education fund in care of the funeral home.
