WICHITA — Panther sprinter Karys Leu enjoyed a strong day with third-place 5A finishes in the 100 (12.31) and 200 (25.64).
The Panthers 800-meter tandem achieved personal goals with season-best times by seventh-place Tavon Stroup (1:55.8) and 12th-place Landon Hubbard (1:59.04).
Great Bend's 3,200-meter girls relay placed sixth (9:59.27) with Sydney Stein, Decorah Schroeter, Bella Long and Reese Bullard.
Great Bend's 2-time defending triple jump champion Cooper Ohnmacht soared 46-91/2 to place third.
Ohnmacht was one-half inch behind triple jump leader Ti'Rell Clark of Kansas City Turner with one attempt left. St. Thomas Aquinas' Grady Richlin leaped 47-33/4 on his final attempt to capture the 5A state title.
Ohnmacht enjoyed a busy day with fourth-place in the long jump (22-3) and seventh in the javelin (171-2).
