WICHITA — It was not a good day for Great Bend athletes to compete against St. Thomas Aquinas.
Great Bend's 2-time defending triple jump champion Cooper Ohnmacht soared 46-91/2 to place third.
Ohnmacht was one-half inch behind triple jump leader Ti'Rell Clark of Kansas City Turner with one attempt left. St. Thomas Aquinas' Grady Richlin leaped 47-33/4 on his final attempt to capture the 5A state title.
Ohnmacht enjoyed a busy day with fourth-place in the long jump (22-3) and seventh in the javelin (171-2).
