Lauri (Southard) Wenberg 1962 - 2017

WICHITA — Lauri (Southard) Wenberg, 55, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at her home in Wichita after a prolonged illness. Lauri was born on April 9, 1962, in Great Bend to Joe and Loretta Southard. She grew up with one brother, Mike. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1980 and attended Kansas State University where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She married Todd Wenberg on a 110-degree day on Aug. 1, 1987, and was the proud mother of Joseph “Joey” and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Wenberg. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was a fantastic cook, preparing incredible meals and keeping a very pristine home. She enjoyed family vacations the most, including trips to the Florida Keys, Colorado, and San Diego. She was passionate about her family and totally immersed in their school and extra-curricular activities, and was a world-class wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Todd; children, Joey of Austin, Texas, and Lizzie of Wichita; parents, Joe and Loretta Southard of Great Bend; brother, Mike (RaShann) Southard of Great Bend; two nephews, Kade Southard of Great Bend and Kristopher (Jordyn) Southard of Overland Park; three cousins, Tyler (Erin) Watson of Bullhead City, Ariz., Logan Vigdor of San Diego, Calif., and Tanner (Lacie) Daly of Germany. She was preceded in death by her stillborn daughter, Kirstin Leigh Wenberg; and grandparents, George and Claudie “Dolly” Southard, and Leo and Anna Ohnmacht.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.
