ELLINWOOD — Donita J. Goosen, 85, passed away May 2, 2026, at Azria Health Woodhaven, Great Bend, Kan. She was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Bison, Kan., to Clarence Henry and Naomi Kathryn (Reichel) Gisick. On Dec. 27, 1959, she married Roy Robert Zoellner at the Bison Methodist Church in Bison, Kan. He passed away May 1, 1994. She later married Leonard Goosen at the United Methodist Church in Ellinwood. He passed away on Oct. 17, 2019.
A resident of Ellinwood since 1969, Donita was a devoted follower of Christ, wife, mother, homemaker, and servant of others. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Ellinwood, where she played the organ and piano for over 40 years. She loved flowers and was known throughout the community for her kindness, hospitality, empathy, and compassion.
Donita was employed as a business manager and interim administrator with Woodhaven of Ellinwood for many years, and later with Kimple Furniture and Funeral Home of Ellinwood.
Survivors include sons Kyle Zoellner of Ellinwood and Kirk Zoellner and wife Sandra of Mokena, Ill. (Chicago), as well as stepdaughter Gwen Marian of Peyton, Colo. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; and brother Rodney Gisick.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Ellinwood Community Church in Ellinwood, with Pastors Sam Ryan and Tom Reazin presiding. Interment will follow at Lone Star Cemetery north of Bison, Kan. at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, with the family receiving guests from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorials have been designated to the donor’s choice in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
