HUDSON — Richard Bernhard Fischer, 94, died Aug. 7, 2012 at Ellinwood District Hospital.
Born Aug. 12, 1917 in rural Seward he was the son of Johann Karl and Antje Mareka (Ukens) Fischer. A life-long resident of the Stafford County area, he was a farmer/stockman. During World War II, he served his country in the United States Army. On Oct. 11, 1953, he married Ruth Irene (Ohlrogge) in Radium. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Fischer was a member of Peace Church in rural Hudson and the American Legion in Great Bend.
Survivors include, a son, Dale Fischer of rural Stafford County; a daughter, Gayla Duncan and husband Stewart, of rural Stafford County; three grandchildren, Jeremiah, Reilly and wife Kara, and Angela Duncan; and a great-grandson, Connor Duncan. He was preceded in death by brothers Willie, John and Edwin; and sisters Bertha Eggers and Minnie Kottwitz.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Peace Church north of Hudson with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Minnis Chapel with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Peace Church building fund in care of the funeral home.
