Roger Alan Schwager, 67, passed away Aug. 26, 2024, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington, Kan. He was born April 19, 1957, in Great Bend to George and Luella (Burhenn) Schwager. He was a lifetime Great Bend resident.
After high school, Roger was an appraiser, Founder of Mid-America Management properties, but spent his lifetime working diligently as a farmer. He was a proud founding member of RHAK, 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, and a CCD teacher. Roger was a former member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Seward, but a current member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Jeanette Soper of Great Bend, Shirley Headley of Albert; three brothers, Raymond Schwager (Donita) of Hays, Ricky Schwager of Great Bend, Ron Schwager (Michelle) of Hoisington; Goddaughter Amanda Baxter and Godsons, Trevor Schwager and Brogan Unruh; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; Robert Schwager; and sister, Diane Sanders.
Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2024, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Family will be receiving from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Bob Schremmer presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. Memorials have been designated to Holy Family School Endowment or Clara Barton Foundation, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
